So...

The timing for the trip with Hermione could have been better. I mean, the trip was wonderful, of course, that's not what I meant. But now Mum's pissy at me for missing Christmas with the family, which I have no doubt she won't let me hear the end of until the day I die, but I also had an actual mountain of paperwork on my desk when I got back to my cubicle the office. I realized that I missed a lot while I was gone, but Holy Mother of God. It was a lot of paper. I've been spending the past few days trying like hell to get caught up.

Harry, Gin, Seamus & Nev:

Yes, yes, I know. I know what you're all thinking and you are absolutely right. But for the record: I did try to ask Hermione to marry me at least twice while we were on holiday. I chickened out the first time and the second time, I was just getting ready to blurt it out when we got the paper about the attack in London. Kind of ruined the mood, if you know what I mean.

God, I give up. I need advice. Desperately. Please.

Where's you're Gryffindor courage? Just bite the bullet. We all know she's going to say yes.

I would just...well...get her alone, maybe doing something she likes...but I suppose you've already done the 'getting her alone' part.

I think I just suck at this. Romance is hard. Man, why the hell would anyone want to marry me? I can't even propose, what the hell kind of husband am I going to make?

God, I'm tempted to just send Pig off to her with the ring and a note saying: "Please? Love, Ron" But I don't think 'Mione would ever forgive me and Gin would probably light me on fire.

Okay, how about this? I'll ask her this weekend. Maybe. No matter what. No ruined moods or interruptions or anything will interfere. Even if the effing house is burning down around our ears, I won't let that stop me. Because I am a Gryffindor and now I have said it and once I say it, nothing will stop me.

Right?

...

Just say "right" back. Please.

Right!

I think staying at home would be a good idea. Less can go wrong that way. As for you, personally, you just need more confidence. If Hermione didn't want to be with you why would she have stayed this long. She obvious loves you. Asking her should be easy.

Ron, I don't quite understand how you ever graduated from Hogwarts and managed to get the position that you did when you still have the maturity of a first year. Really. Do you expect mother to be over joyed that you weren't here at Christmas? Christmas, Ron. Of all of the times why did you have to run off with Hermione at Christmas? People were worried about you, you know. With the werewolf attack and all. Please try to be less careless.

Listen, you git Christmas is a time to spend with people you love. I love Hermione. Besides, I kind of owed her. Plus, it's the ONLY time I have gotten more than a day in a row off from both my jobs at the same time. You and Mum and the others already know I love you, I don't need to romance any of you to convince you of it. Besides, it's not like you haven't missed a Christmas or two yourself, pillock, so don't you dare lecture me.

Well I think you should ASK HER,for one thing. Ron, Hermione is my best friend and I promise you that she wants you to ask her. It doesn't have to be some grand gesture, but if you want it to be I'll certainly help you out with planning it.

Harry, too. He's quite handy when he wants to be.

My point is she's ready and waiting to be asked. You just need help with the logistics. Lucky for you I'm a female, and I know what Hermione likes and appreciates.
